Sitting down on the job!

Thursday (7th November) saw the opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey.

It was an honour to be invited to City Chambers again and to spend time chatting with the Lord Provost.

Meetings, meetings and more meetings.

Monday 21st October saw the opening of the Gardens of Remembrance in Princes Street, Edinburgh and Tuesday 22nd October saw the opening of the Gardens of Remembrance in Glasgow.

The Chair and Secretary ran away to London yesterday to the Park Plaza on Westminster so Jack stepped up to keep things ticking over while they were gone. And yes, he did do a better job! And yes, he is better looking!

Yesterday, the Minister for People and Veterans attended the Defence Bereaved Families Group, which included our Chair.

Our Chair with the Chairs of RAF Widows’ Association and Royal Navy Royal Marines Widows’ Association at Westminster Abbey for the Battle of Britain Service.

One of the Standards dedicated last week came to Scotland.

Our Padre, Rev Ian Brown, dedicated our new Standards at the Guards Chapel in London at our Annual Founders Day Service.

On Saturday, we were invited by Dundee Sea & Royal Marines Cadets – TS Duncan 113 to join them in celebrating their 85th Anniversary.

Yesterday, member Jacquie Whiteley, accompanied by Mini Finlay, was proud to lay our wreath at the service in Newhaven, East Sussex, to commemorate Operation Jubilee.

Our committee – meeting in UJC for the first time face to face since the AGM. Great characters and hilarious banter as well as getting on with the business.
